Team rules
PLAYING TIME: Each game is between 28 and 36 minutes long, depending on what league you are in. You can double check this by going to 'JOIN A LEAGUE' page. The game will consist of 4 x innings, 2 batting and 2 fielding.
STANDINGS: The updated standings will be posted weekly, displaying each teams league position and fixture results. Also, there will be additional details recorded each game including player of the match and the fair play team award.
TEAM NUMBERS, MIXED TEAMS & AGE: Maximum of 9 players on the field at any one time. However, it is permissible to field a team with less than 9 people (minimum of 6 players). A maximum squad size can total 12.
The league is insured for players aged 16+, any player under this age will not be allowed to play. We play mixed gender leagues, however only 2 male players can be played at any one time, you can register as many male players as you like in your squad, and you can have 3 male subs if you wanted to but only a male could then be swapped for a male, to maintain only 2 males play at anyone time.
Summary: Match day a minimum amount of players to complete a fixture is 9, maximum squad size is 12 (9 plus 3 subs) but you can register as many players as you like so that you can cover all fixtures.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions can only be made at ‘half-time’ or if a serious injury occurs that rules that player out of the game. Half time is deemed as between 2nd and 3rd innings. If a player is subbed through injury they cannot be returned to the field of play.
You are not allowed to only bat or only field. You are also not allowed a runner.
START OF PLAY: Before play starts the captains shall toss for the choice of batting or fielding first. Please notify the umpire of the outcome of the toss.
Minimum Player Policy & Fixture Start Times
To ensure fixtures run smoothly and to time, all teams must have a minimum of six players ready to start at the scheduled fixture time. If a team has only five players present when the match is due to begin, the fixture is automatically forfeited and recorded as such in the league table.
Should a team meet the minimum six-player requirement at the start, any additional players arriving late may join the game as soon as they are ready and the umpire confirms it is safe to do so. Teams are encouraged to plan ahead and allow sufficient time for arrival and warm-up, as delays impact not only their own match but the fixtures that follow.
NEW PLAYERS: Please indicate to the umpires if a player is new so that they can guide the player to in their opening couple of games, but all players should be made aware of the rules before the game starts by the team/captain. New players who are competing in their first fixture (only) will play the 'not out on first base' rule.
TRANSFERS: A player must indicate to their captain they wish to leave the team and play a minimum of 2 weeks notice, unless they are between seasons. MyRounders must also be contacted that this is happening.
EXITING THE LEAGUE
Exiting of a league can only take place at the end of the season. The length of the league varies from league to league depending on number of team participating. If a team decides to leave during the season that team will be liable for all the remaining fees of the season. If you no longer wish to proceed into the following season, you must give 2 weeks notice to the league by contacting hello@myrounders.co.uk
CHANGE TO FIXTURES
In some circumstances My Rounders may need to and will change match times. We ask all teams to regularly check the website and Facebook groups for any changes.
FORFEIT A GAME
If a team is not able to attend a fixture, a 10-0 win is awarded to the opposition. The forfeiting team will be charged their full match fee. If we have not been informed of the forfeit prior to 1pm on the day of the fixture and/or the forfeiting team has not paid their match fee prior to the fixture time, you will also be liable for your oppositions match fee too. A friendly will be organised if there is a 'no show' without being informed but your result will be 10 - 0 win.
In the event of neither teams being able to field a team, the fixture will be declared a draw 0 - 0.
IF A GAME IS ABANDONED
If a game is abandoned the result will stand if the game is 75% complete. For example if a game is 36 minutes long, the abandoned time cut off point would be 27 minutes. (3x 9 minute innings)
Decent and Discipline Action
- Intolerable Behaviour which includes the following –
- Questioning rules or decisions mid game to oppose the decision
- Insulting an umpire or league coordinator
- Using intimidation, violence, swearing towards an umpire or their decisions
- Unsportsmanlike behaviour
Will be taken seriously. Umpires have been instructed to stop their timers and request the assistance of the league coordinator. The league coordinator will review the situation, supervise the rest of the game and/or discuss the incident with the captain of the team and/or request a player be removed from the game and/or that the game is abandoned entirely.
In particular circumstances, any incidents deemed necessary will be escalated to management who will decide on the appropriate action, in some cases this may mean exclusion from the leagues.
